Amazon workers to strike at multiple sites: Teamsters

International Federation of Teamsters Brotherhood announced Amazon workers are scheduled to go on strike starting Thursday in five states finalized ahead of the Christmas holidays, citing the company's refusal to participate in bargaining negotiations.

“If your package gets delayed during the holidays, you can blame Amazon's insatiable greed. We've given Amazon clear deadlines for our members to come to the table and do the right thing. They ignored it,” said Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien, who labeled company executives “greedy.”

Workers are planning strikes in New York City, Atlanta, Southern California, San Francisco, and Skokie, Illinois.

The Teamsters say Amazon employees at other facilities are ready to join them. But the online retail company founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos has consistently denied wrongdoing, even in complaints backed by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).

The Teamsters say they have repeatedly misled the public with their statements.

“For more than a year, the Teamsters have intentionally misled the public by claiming they represent 'thousands of Amazon employees and drivers,' which they do not. , this is yet another attempt to push a false narrative,” Amazon spokeswoman Kelly Nantel said in a statement. Associated Press.

The company did not immediately respond to The Hill's request for comment.

Amazon challenged the legality of NLRB charges arising from California workers who were employed by another contractor.
