AMC Entertainment Stock Rises: Here’s What You Need to Know
What Happened?
AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) saw its stock increase by 17.3% in morning trading, following the release of strong financial results for the second quarter of 2026. The company’s revenue and adjusted EBITDA surpassed many analysts’ expectations.
During this quarter, AMC brought in total revenue of $1.6 billion, marking a 14.2% increase year-over-year and significantly outpacing the predicted $1.47 billion. Profitability measures also showed impressive growth, with adjusted EBITDA climbing to $321.4 million compared to an expected $199.4 million—a remarkable 61.2% rise.
As a result of this financial upswing, adjusted earnings per share (EPS) came in at $0.14, contrasting sharply with an anticipated loss of $0.02 per share. The operational efficiency of the company improved notably as well, reflected in an operating margin increase to 14.9%, up from 6.6% last year, and a free cash flow margin that reached 11.9%.
It seems that investors are responding positively to AMC’s $1.73 billion market cap as the company successfully navigates through recent challenges.

What the Market Is Telling Us
Two months ago, a notable price surge of 17.4% occurred when AMC announced its highest May attendance figures since 2019, which suggested a recovering theater audience. According to AMC, 25.5 million people attended theaters both domestically and internationally in May, representing the highest attendance for that month in seven years. A lot of this influx happened over Memorial Day weekend, with 4.2 million moviegoers visiting theaters during that time. High attendance levels, fueled by a string of successful movie releases, imply a promising recovery for the movie theater sector.
Currently, AMC is up 43.8% year-to-date; however, trading at $2.32 per share, it remains 33.9% below its 52-week peak of $3.50 reached in July 2025. Despite the increase this year, someone who invested $1,000 in AMC five years ago would only be looking at a value of about $6.09.
