Flight Attendant Disappears in Colombia

An American Airlines flight attendant based in Dallas has gone missing during a layover in Medellin, Colombia, prompting a swift response from local authorities.

Eric Fernando Gutierrez Molina, 32, was last spotted in the La America neighborhood early Sunday morning after arriving for a brief layover on a flight headed to Miami. Reports indicate that Gutierrez Molina may have been invited to a party and later taken to a medical facility, according to a friend.

Before his disappearance, he shared his location from an Airbnb near José María Córdoba International Airport, which led friends and colleagues to report him missing to the local authorities.

Alejandro Murcia, who represents Colombians abroad, made a heartfelt plea on social media for assistance in locating Gutierrez Molina, emphasizing the family’s distress. He tagged the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, but there has been no response regarding the situation yet.

Though details remain unclear, there is uncertainty about the possibility of foul play. American Airlines has stated that it is fully cooperating with the investigation and is committed to supporting the families of its team members during this challenging time.

The Association of Professional Flight Attendants has also confirmed their involvement in assisting local authorities to support the families affected. This situation is still unfolding, and more information is expected to emerge soon.
