Passengers on select international American Airlines flights can look forward to some exciting new features this summer.
The airline is introducing its flagship suite seats on the latest Boeing 787-9 aircraft, enhancing comfort and privacy for travelers. These suite seats, which number 51 at the front of the plane, offer a unique lounge seating option equipped with privacy doors, additional personal storage with wireless charging, and adjustable headrest pillows.
“Every aspect of our new 787-9 is crafted to provide a premium experience,” said Heather Garboden, American’s chief customer officer. “Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, the chance to explore new destinations should be both exhilarating and memorable, starting the moment you book your flight and continuing until you reach your final destination.”
Beginning Monday, customers will be able to buy tickets for the inaugural flight from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to Los Angeles (LAX) set for June 5th. This flight will return to ORD before heading to London Heathrow (LHR) as Flight 98, marking the airline’s first international flagship service.
Later this summer, American will operate the new 787-9 on routes from Philadelphia (PHL) to LHR and Zurich (ZRH), as well as from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Australia (BNE).
The two new Boeing 787-9 aircraft recently arrived in Dallas-Fort Worth, part of a larger plan to integrate 30 new planes into the airline’s fleet by 2029.
Customers utilizing the flagship suite will enjoy priority check-in, security, boarding, luggage handling, and access to the American flagship lounge.
Upon boarding, these travelers can expect a multi-course meal, enhanced by a premium amenity kit featuring a selection of award-winning wines, a luxurious skincare product, and a comfortable duvet blanket that offers a cool touch fabric on one side and a cozy dual pillow on the other.
The airline also plans to offer flagship suite seats on newly delivered Airbus A321XLR aircraft, as well as upgraded Boeing 777-300ER planes in the future.
