Fox News confirmed that one American was killed during protests in the West Bank.
The State Department said it was aware of Aisrunur Eguzi Egi's “tragic death” but did not provide further details.
The news agency did not say what caused her death, but Reuters, citing the Palestinian state news agency WAFA, reported that an American citizen taking part in a protest against settlement expansion in the West Bank was shot in the head by Israeli forces on Friday and died from his wounds.

WAFA reported that the incident took place during a routine protest by activists in the town of Beita, near Nablus, which has seen repeated settler attacks.
Fouad Nafa, director of Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, told Reuters the woman had suffered serious head injuries and arrived at the hospital in very critical condition.
“We tried to resuscitate her but unfortunately she passed away,” he said.
The Israeli military said it was investigating the report.

“During an operation today (Friday) near the Beita neighborhood, Israeli security forces returned fire on the main perpetrators of violence, who were hurling stones and making threats at security forces,” the IDF said in a statement.
“The IDF is investigating reports that shots were fired in the area, killing a foreign national. Details of the incident and the circumstances under which she was shot are currently under investigation.”
In a statement, the State Department told Fox News it sends its deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.

“We are urgently gathering more information about the circumstances of her death and will speak further once more details are available. For us, there is no higher priority than the safety and security of the American people.”
An increase in violent attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages in the West Bank has caused growing anger among Israel's Western allies, including the United States, which has imposed sanctions on several individuals.
