Over the weekend, two American tourists were attacked by sharks at the popular Bahamas resort, police said.
The female swimmer was in the waters of Bimini Bay, part of the westernmost island of the Bahamas, about 6:30pm on the Friday, when the attack took place, in about 50 miles from Miami.
“According to the initial reports, both victims indicate that US residents were injured while swimming in the waters of Bimini Bay,” Bahamas police wrote in a press release.

Both victims of the reported shark attack were initially locally treated before being airlifted to New Providence, another island in the Bahamas, for further medical care.
“One of the injuries to the victims is listed as serious,” police continued in a statement Saturday, adding that an investigation is ongoing.
At least two Americans have been suffering from shark attacks in the Bahamas in more than a year.

Lauren Erickson Van Wort, 44, from Massachusetts, paddleboarded less than a mile from the western edge of New Providence Island when he was bitten and killed by a shark in early December 2023. It was there.
The following month, the 10-year-old Maryland native said he was bitten by a shark on January 15, 2024 and was “participated in a shark tank expedition” at a resort on Paradise Island.

The boy was taken to the hospital and survived the attack.
