The American people are witnessing the consequences of an open border under the leadership of Vice President Kamala Harris, said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Breitbart News Saturdayhe noted, the United States has moved “from secure borders to a country without borders.”
Republican lawmakers this week called for testimony from victims of immigrant crimes, which Jordan said was “painful to hear.”
“Don't get me wrong, they were great witnesses, but what happened to these three young women was just awful. And then of course, one young man, a son … his mother was talking about when he used fentanyl and took his life. He was a 15-year-old freshman in high school, a good young man,” he said.
“This is a powerful story that highlights what happens when borders are open. I tell everybody, we've literally gone from a secure border to no border and we're seeing that happen,” he said, noting that some of the illegal immigrants who enter the country are on terrorist watch lists.
All of this led to “horrific crimes that happened to the families who testified this week and other families across the country.”
“And then, of course, we have situations where the education system is strained, the health care system is strained, the housing market is strained. In Springfield, Ohio, there's an estimated 20,000 Haitians in a community of 60,000,” he said. “When you have no borders and you have a commander in chief and an administration that doesn't enforce the law, this is what happens,” he explained, emphasizing that Harris and Biden were responsible for allowing millions into the country.

“[They] “We let 10 million immigrants in, 99 of them on terror watch lists. As you heard at the hearing last week, many of them have done terrible things. And she was the border commissioner,” he said of Harris, explaining that she stopped deciding parole requests on a case-by-case basis and instead opened them up.
“Instead, they said they would only allow certain categories of people in. And when it came to Cubans, Haitians, Venezuelans, Hondurans, they just allowed them in. 300,000 from Cuba, 20,000 of them in Springfield, Ohio. So this is a failed policy that's not just affecting the border communities, but all communities,” he said, noting that Harris can say what she wants, but the American people “have eyes” and can see “what's going on.”
When asked how he could turn this situation around, Jordan said it all depends on the election and the election of former President Donald Trump.
“It's very simple: We have to win. If we don't win the Senate, win the White House and keep the House, they're going to do more of the same. … Everybody understands you can't bring 20,000 people into a community of 60,000 in a short period of time and not have an impact, as you said, on the education system, the health care system, the housing market,” he said over news from Springfield, Ohio.
Jordan said he received a call from a friend in the area this week who told him car accidents were a problem because “a lot of people can't drive and aren't trained to drive but they do.”
“This is the fault of an administration that is continuing the positions that the current administration has taken since day one,” he said, noting that the Biden-Harris administration has dismantled the secure border by halting construction of the wall, rescinding the Remain in Mexico ban and granting parole authority to certain countries and allowing those people into the country.
“You do that, you get $10 million, and when you take what we have here now and see the impact it's having on our communities, the American people say, 'enough is enough,' and then they come in and all the benefits they get with your tax dollars, American tax dollars, it's very frustrating for the American people,” Jordan said. “Again, I think this is starting to get through to voters and I think that's why President Trump is going to be the next president.”
