Hundreds of Americans gathered in front of the Massachusetts State House in Boston on Saturday to slam Democrats for rejecting a measure that approved $420 million in immigration protections and prioritized homeless veterans.
The budget spending signed by Gov. Maura Healey (D) on April 30 provides an additional $420 million to strengthen the state’s emergency shelter system. It sets a rule that the maximum stay in a shelter is 90 days. However, there is also a provision that makes that deadline meaningless, as once the allotted deadline expires, immigrants can apply for an additional 90 days to stay.

demonstrators Said WCVB-TV argued that spending on immigration only ended up encouraging undocumented immigrants to flock to Massachusetts, knowing they would receive free assistance.
“What we’re seeing with inflation is that these scarce resources are being used to house, feed, and shelter illegal aliens while so many Americans are struggling to make ends meet,” protester Jeff Kooner said. I think it means that it is being used.”
The rejection of the veterans bill is not the first time in recent months that Bay State Democrats have placed veterans in second place. In March, authorities controversially handed over the former Chelsea Soldiers’ Home in Boston to house illegal immigrants in response to Mr. Healy’s request to designate more shelters.
Elsewhere, families in Boston’s majority-black Roxbury neighborhood were outraged in February after the city closed community centers to house more illegal border crossers under President Joe Biden.
The Healey government also received criticism for holding migrants at Logan International Airport.

The state reported in February that it plans to spend $1 billion to feed migrants by 2025.
