The government shutdown has stretched into its fifth week, and significant programs are starting to fall apart. Military funding is now relying on private sources, and air traffic controllers will stop receiving pay starting tomorrow. The focus is now shifting toward SNAP benefits for food assistance.
While Democrats present themselves as the party for the people, some argue they are obstructing Congress from moving forward with a continuing resolution. Glenn Beck commented on this situation.
“A party that claims to represent the weakest among us, a party that’s like, ‘They’re going to let your children starve in the middle of the street!'” he remarked, suggesting they are taking food from people’s mouths.
This moment exposes the true nature of the Democratic Party, which Beck argues does not represent the people.
“Their inaction is a deliberate choice. … After trapping people in government assistance programs, they pull the rug out from under them,” he added.
Currently, SNAP serves around 42 million people monthly, which is about 12% of the U.S. population for the fiscal year 2024.
Beck claims the Democrats are essentially “weaponizing hunger,” despite the program’s roots going back to their party.
He supports the notion of a government shutdown to reveal which federal roles are unnecessary but draws a line at allowing people to go hungry.
“Right now, the government is shut down, and food is in jeopardy for American children. They frequently claim that we want to hurt children. This is about their choice to withdraw funds they deem necessary for feeding kids,” he said, further questioning the supposed compassion of the party.
As the longest government shutdown possible, Beck believes Democrats are taking advantage of the situation to manipulate the issue of hunger among children.
Beck raises the question of their motives, identifying two reasons. First, “Chuck Schumer is trying to fend off dissent from the left wing of his party.” Second, he suggests they desire some form of chaos or upheaval.
The implications of losing SNAP benefits extend beyond hunger; Beck warns that stress levels will rise, leading to increased suicides, illnesses, and crime rates. Cities will be overwhelmed, and national panic will escalate.
He challenges, “Who would want that except for Democrats, who are seemingly cultivating chaos and a breakdown of law and order?”
He believes the party is effectively encouraging despair and tightening pressure on states to dip into their emergency funds, making them more susceptible to collapse.
Rather than a resolution, it seems, they may be aiming for a crisis.
Beck cites that Democrats are opposing conservative billionaire Timothy Mellon, who wishes to donate funds to ensure active-duty soldiers are paid during the shutdown, yet they support funding for protests.
“You can’t trust a party that loudly advocates for negative outcomes but resists passing straightforward funding measures,” he stated.
Beck encourages listeners to consider how they can assist struggling communities while benefits are threatened. A video clip is available featuring his appeal for action.
