Amy Acton’s Mother Creates Ad Against ‘Liar’ Amy Acton — Acton’s Response

Unusual Campaign Ad Features Candidate’s Mother Opposing Her

In a striking turn of events, Donna Arthur, the mother of Amy Acton, who is a Democrat vying for the governorship of Ohio, is seen in a campaign advertisement urging voters not to support her own daughter. Yes, you read that right; it’s a publicized sentiment that’s, well, quite bold.

“I love my daughter, but when I saw her lying about her opponent — and it’s not easy for a mother to say this — but Amy has a serious problem,” Ms. Arthur shares. She goes on to criticize her daughter sharply: “She is a liar. She lies about her past. She says she grew up living in a tent. None of that is true. She’s lied her entire life.”

Continuing, she mentions, “My daughter needs help, and she can’t help you if she needs help herself. People can change, but first they have to tell the truth, and my daughter still isn’t doing that.” The ad doesn’t hold back, concluding with a strong warning: “Don’t vote for people who lie. Don’t let her become your governor. If you think she’ll make your life better, you’re fooling yourself. It will only get worse.”

Such statements hint at a deeply complicated family dynamic, which might make for some particularly tense family gatherings. If you thought family dinners were awkward before, Amy Acton’s household just became a whole new level of uncomfortable.

In response, Acton has shared a statement through her brother, Philip Stearns, who tries to shift the blame onto her opponent, Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy. He states, “It’s not surprising that Vivek Ramaswamy has stooped to such a despicable low as to attempt to turn the sexual abuse Amy endured at twelve years old from our birth mother’s husband into a political talking point. After he was arrested and Amy and I were removed from their custody, our birth mother stayed married to Amy’s rapist until he died. This desperate, disgusting attack reveals exactly who Vivek Ramaswamy is at his core — a pathetic excuse for a man who is willing to hurt anyone as long as it gets him what he wants.”

At this point, details on who financed the ad, or who is behind it, remain unclear.

As it stands, polls indicate that Ramaswamy is trailing behind Acton by an average of 3.7 points, according to RealClearPolitics, with Acton at 48.2 percent compared to Ramaswamy’s 44.5 percent.

This story is still developing, and further updates will be forthcoming.

Recently, it has been reported that Ramaswamy’s team has confirmed their production of the ad.
