Currently, Andrew and Tristan Tate, both known for their controversial views, are in a Miami jail while they fight extradition to the UK on various serious charges, including rape and sex trafficking. Their lawyer recently shared a rather immature note where they complained about the limited snacks from the commissary.
In a hand-written note dated August 19, younger brother Tristan expressed his frustration, saying, “We have had 14 snack items in the past 32 days between two big men. What is this, trick or treat? I’ve lost 13 pounds and I’m hungry.” This little note was posted on X by their lawyer, Joe McBride.
The Tates, previously successful in their “manosphere” online ventures, are now facing the harsh realities of numerous alleged criminal activities that have brought them to this point.
Combined, the brothers are looking at nearly 60 charges across the US, the UK, and Romania.
They were scheduled to appear in US court on Thursday to request bail as they continue to contest their extradition to Britain.
In his X post, McBride shared Tristan’s note, emphasizing his plea with a broken heart emoji. “I am hungry,” he quoted, adding, “Tristan is down 13 lbs, and Andrew 8. The Gov claims they have normal commissary access. The Gov is lying,” he asserted.
McBride went on to highlight that, apparently, they’ve only been allowed commissary access once in 32 days—imagine a single Snickers bar lasting three days between two men.
This attempt by McBride to gain sympathy for the brothers comes amid a series of humiliations they’ve faced this week alone.
In a recent legal brief meant to support their bail motion, their lawyers openly admitted that their extravagant lifestyle, which included a variety of expensive cars and a multimillion-dollar yacht, was somewhat fabricated to mislead their online followers.
They stated, “The more hyperbolic and outlandish the post, the more likely it will generate views and likes, which in turn generates income.” In essence, they were acting.
Andrew, now 39, is tackling numerous charges in the UK, which include multiple counts of rape, assault, and human trafficking.
Recently, fresh charges emerged against him for allegedly possessing child pornography, with a report detailing 19 counts of indecent images involving a child and other forms of extreme pornography.
Tristan, at 38, is facing one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of sex trafficking.
The brothers had resided in Romania since 2016, where they’re also under investigation for human trafficking, rape, forming an organized criminal group, and money laundering.
They were arrested on July 18 in Miami and are being held at the Miami Federal Detention Center, where Snickers bars are listed at $0.95 each, based on the prison’s website. A spokesperson from the detention center has not yet responded to requests for comments.
