Another confusing anti-Christian remark from James Talarico has come to light

Texas Senate Race Highlights Talarico’s Controversial Statements

As Democrats work to reclaim a majority in the U.S. Senate, their efforts in Texas face challenges due to remarks made by candidates in the state. One notable figure, State Rep. James Talarico, has stirred controversy with his latest video articulating his far-left beliefs regarding Christianity.

In an interview from 2021 with Roberto Che Henderson-Espinoza—a Latinx, nonbinary, and transgender individual—Talarico stated, “I don’t think any other political philosophy or economic theory is as fundamental or revolutionary as the teachings of that barefoot rabbi.” He laughs as he adds, “I always think of myself as a Christian who hates Christianity, right? And I always find myself drawn back into that world.”

Talarico further characterized Jesus Christ as a socialist, suggesting that aspects like his “whiteness” and “masculinity” limit their interpretation of Christianity. “I keep coming back to that story,” he continued, “because no other political philosophy or economic theory is as truly radical and revolutionary as the teachings of that barefoot rabbi.” He even commended his pastor, Jim Rigby, as a “true white traitor.”

In previous statements, Talarico faced scrutiny for claiming that God is “non-binary” and for remarks that contradict traditional religious teachings. A segment from Blaze TV highlighted various issues within Talarico’s church in Austin, which reportedly rejects the concept of Christ as the only means to salvation, features a lesbian pastor, and offers a library filled with sexually explicit children’s books.

Talarico is poised to compete against Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in what’s expected to be a crucial race for one of Texas’ two U.S. Senate seats. Recent polling shows the race to be quite close, with Paxton at 43% and Talarico at 42%.

Paxton secured the Republican nomination from incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, while the Democrats nominated Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The final decision will be made in the election set for November 3, 2026.
