as minnesota timberwolves When superstar Anthony Edwards lit up the defending champion Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals, fans on social media continued to compare him to Michael Jordan.
Edwards hears and evaluates those comparisons, but He told FOX Sports he wants the comparisons to stop..
“I want it to stop,” Edwards, 22, told FOX Sports. “He’s the best of all time. I can’t compare to him.”
Although Edwards would like the comparisons to stop, his level of play at this young age is strikingly similar to Jordan’s early in his career. Not only his fans but also his players have noticed the similarities. Edwards’ teammate Mike Conley said on TNT about Edwards and how he views his game:
Timberwolves legend Kevin Garnett also thinks the comparison is valid, especially comparing Edwards to the 1984 version of Jordan.
These days, it’s impossible to go on social media without seeing Edwards compared to MJ.
A look at the numbers from Anthony Edwards and Michael Jordan’s first 16 playoff games
Ali: MJ:
29.8 PPG 38.1 PPG
5.6 RPG 6.3 RPG
4.5 APG 6.2 APG
49% FG 49% FG

While there are some legitimate aspects to this comp, especially in terms of playing style and explosiveness at a young age, it shows the incredible humility of Edwards, who refuses to be compared to Jordan. If I’m just going to be compared to him, one of the greatest NBA players to ever play basketball, I’m not going to let anyone hear the end of the game. But for Edwards to say he can’t compare to the man considered the greatest of all time shows great respect and respect for Jordan and his impact on the sport.
But that doesn’t stop you from making photo collages.
