Car Crash Involves Anthony Joshua’s Friends

The recent car accident in Nigeria has tragically claimed the lives of two of boxing star Anthony Joshua’s friends, as confirmed by the country’s president on social media.

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu took to X to extend his sympathies to Joshua, noting the loss of his close associates.

In his message, he mentioned, “I spoke with AJ and offered my personal condolences on the recent accident that killed two of his close aides, Kevin Latif Ayodele and Sheena Ghami.” He added that he prayed for Joshua’s swift recovery and was reassured that the boxer was receiving excellent medical care.

“I also reached out to his mother and prayed for her as well. She was deeply grateful for this call,” the president shared.

Following the accident, authorities reported that Joshua was in a “stable” condition, having suffered minor injuries. A joint statement from the Lagos and Ogun state governments indicated that extensive medical evaluations showed both patients involved in the incident were stable and didn’t require any urgent medical intervention.

The accident took place around 11 am local time on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Reports revealed that Joshua was a passenger in a Lexus SUV, which lost control during an overtaking maneuver and collided with a parked truck. Sadly, two foreign men died at the scene.

Joshua, who recently fought Jake Paul in a boxing match, was seen being rescued from the wreckage in photographs circulating on social media. Jake Paul expressed his concern, saying he was praying for Joshua and acknowledged the lives affected by this unexpected tragedy.

Joshua has Nigerian roots; he grew up in Nigeria but moved back to the UK after his parents’ divorce. He has held multiple heavyweight titles throughout his career but lost his championship to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021.
