The deceased gunman in a shooting at a high school in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday morning has been identified.
Metropolitan Nashville Police have identified 17-year-old Solomon Henderson as the shooter at Antioch High School. Henderson, a current student at the school, shot and killed two other students before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Joseline Coria Escalante, 16, was killed in the shooting, and a 17-year-old boy was wounded in the arm by a bullet. He was later treated and released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, police said.

Nashville police said in a news conference that Henderson was armed with a pistol and fired several shots in the high school cafeteria.
A motive has not yet been determined, but investigators are looking into “very concerning” online and social media posts by the shooter.

Mayor Freddie O'Connell issued the following statement in response to the shooting:
“As a city, as a community, it is incredibly difficult for us to stand here again at the devastation of gun violence in one of our school communities. Our hearts go out to all the families affected.”
“We would like to thank all the first responders and mental health officials who responded quickly to support our school community. As a parent at Metro Schools, we are honored to receive notification that this level of violence has occurred at our school. I can't imagine how difficult it is to go to school.
“We continue to work with MNPD and our community partners to promote public safety. We will continue to work with Dr. Battle to share additional ways we can continue to serve and support this community. I will go.”

White House officials said President Donald Trump and his team were aware of the incident and offered those affected their “heartfelt thoughts and prayers.” They also thanked the “brave” first responders who responded to the incident.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee also thanked first responders for quickly arriving at the school.
“As we await further information, I join the people of Tennessee in praying for the victims, their families, and our school community,” Lee said.
