Police are investigating swastikas and other anti-Semitic graffiti found in Santa Monica, California, a left-leaning beach town that boasts “progressive” politics.

The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) is actively responding to multiple reports of anti-Semitic graffiti found in various locations throughout the city, including on sidewalks, trees, and lampposts in the Pico District (2100-2300 Pico Blvd). We are investigating.
In a statement, SMPD expressed clear condemnation of these hateful acts. “This behavior deeply undermines our inclusive community values and cannot be tolerated.”

Police said officers first received a report of vandalism on Friday.
A man working on the street said he first noticed the marks about two months ago. He said he did not know whether they were all tagged at once or whether the vandals marked them repeatedly.
One local family set out to transform the offending symbol into a symbol of love and friendship.
