AP caught red-handed making false claims about Gabbard — forced to retract story

The Associated Press was forced to retract one of Monday's articles after US director-general of national intelligence, known as President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, falsely claimed that he was called “a very good friend.”

The re-acquired article falsely reported that Gabbard said Trump and Putin were “focusing on strengthening relationships.” However, Gabbard did not mention Trump's relationship with Putin, but he was referring to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“If this is not a clear example of pushing only political narratives, nothing is the case.”

Gabbard's misrepresented quote was taken from an Indian interview NDTV It was released on Monday.

“The relationship between our two countries, the US and India, goes very, very far,” she told NDTV. “What we continue to see is the strengthening of that partnership and we recognize that the mutual interests of both countries are concentrated on peace, prosperity, freedom and security.”

“We have two leaders from two great countries who are very good friends and are very focused on how to strengthen their shared goals and shared interests,” Gabbard added.

The AP article entitled “Gabad and Putin focus on strengthening relationships with “very good friends” has been withdrawn from its website and replaced by a statement declaring that the outlet has decided to withdraw the story.

“Gabad continued, Russia's relations with the United States are “very far away,” and Trump “is committed to expanding relationships centered on peace, prosperity, freedom and security.”

The Associated Press claimed that “Gabad's comments reflect a dramatic change in US-Russia relations under Trump, boasting about his ties with Putin, denounced Ukraine for its Russian invasion and took a tough line against Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky.”

The outlet further argued that Gabbard “reflected Russian propaganda in the war and expressed sympathy for Russia.”

All Gabbard quotes mentioned in the article were her comments about India and Modi. Anyway, she allegedly claimed that her false comments about Trump's “friendship” between President Putin “stomp critics of Trump's call for a warm relationship with Moscow.”

Gabbard's deputy chief of staff, Alexa Henning, torched the AP for the false report.

“@AP is total trash,” Henning wrote in a post X. “DNI @Tulsigabbard mentioned Prime Minister Modi and President Trump, which is the headline they'll be making public.”

“This is why no one is malicious, incompetent and intentionally trusting bias.[ed] media. If this is not a clear example of pushing only political narratives, then there's nothing,” she added.
