Arch Manning Struggles in Loss Against Georgia

This season has been quite the ride for Arch Manning, and the game on Saturday night marked another low point. In the Longhorns’ 35-10 defeat to the fifth-ranked Georgia, Manning, who is just 21, managed to complete 27 of 43 passes. He threw for 251 yards, including a touchdown, but unfortunately, also an interception.

The interception was particularly hard to watch. In the second quarter, during a crucial third-and-short play, Manning tried a sidearm throw aimed at wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. The ball sailed over Moore’s head and landed right in the hands of Georgia’s defensive back, KJ Bolden.

“You can’t miss any pitch against a team like that,” Manning commented, acknowledging the challenge of facing such a strong opponent. “We have to play well throughout the game.”

When asked what frustrated him most about the loss, Manning didn’t mince words. “We lost,” he simply stated.

The Longhorns had a glimmer of hope when Manning connected with receiver Ryan Wingo for a touchdown late in the third quarter, narrowing the score to 14-10. However, any hopes for a comeback were dashed as Georgia responded with 21 unanswered points in the final quarter.

“It was a really good game until the fourth quarter started,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian reflected. He noted how Georgia seized the momentum, converting crucial plays and pushing the score up without giving Texas a chance.

With this loss, Texas’s record stands at 7-3, casting doubt on their chances for the College Football Playoff.

Still, Longhorns running back Quintrevion Wisner remains optimistic. He believes in his team’s playoff potential and emphasized the need to focus on future games. “I feel like if I execute at a high level and pay attention to the details, I can take care of business,” he said.

Looking ahead, Texas’s next matchup is against Arkansas, which has yet to secure a victory over a Southeastern Conference opponent.

“We’re going to do everything we can to beat Arkansas and just control what we can control,” Manning added, signaling a determination to reset and refocus.
