Interestingly, Samle’s views evolved over time. Before he embraced Christianity in 2005, he’d been involved in New Age practices, Eastern mysticism, and various experimental rituals. He started to see a strong link between UFOs and these spiritual practices. After converting to Christianity, Samle initially distanced himself from these ideas, focusing instead on his faith. Yet, a few years down the line, significant events reignited his interest. In 2017, an article by the New York Times brought UFOs back into the spotlight, revealing that the Pentagon had been investigating these phenomena for over a decade, even releasing Navy videos capturing unusual aerial engagements.
This newfound attention gave Samle a platform. As an ordained minister with a unique angle on UFO research, he became a participant in discussions that blended scientific inquiry with Christian theology. He describes his approach as akin to a journalist embedded within a theological context. Later, he hosted a series called “Alien Revelation,” examining UFOs and their possible spiritual implications.
In his view, the fascination with aliens serves as a gateway to occult knowledge, tapping into a deeper, often hidden understanding of our universe. It raises questions about what these otherworldly beings might reveal to us. This line of thinking often merges scientific rhetoric with spiritual language, as conversations about “higher consciousness” and “summoning” come into play.
Many UFO sightings have religious elements; people frequently describe feeling a “connection” with these crafts. Some individuals who claim abduction experiences report that they emerge with enhanced abilities, suggesting a link between the encounter and some form of transcendence.
The intersection of UFOs and occultism has a historical context, too. Figures like Aleister Crowley—infamous for his controversial rituals—asserted that he communicated with extraterrestrial entities. One of his sketches depicted a being that closely resembles the stereotypical “gray alien.” Crowley’s follower, Jack Parsons, made significant contributions to rocketry, infusing his occult ideas into his scientific work, which led to the founding of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
In 1947, Parsons and another former Crowley disciple, L. Ron Hubbard, conducted an occult ritual called the “Babalon Working.” They claimed to have channeled a goddess through various magical practices. Interestingly, this was the same year that the UFO phenomenon began gaining widespread attention, marked by Kenneth Arnold’s sighting of “flying saucers.”
