Ariana Grande became emotional during her farewell to fans at the last performance of her “Eternal Sunshine Tour” on Tuesday night, as she prepares for a break from the public eye.
The singer, aged 33, concluded her 41-show tour at the O2 Arena in London, wrapping up a ten-night stint in the city after traveling through the US and Montreal.
“This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life, and honestly, I just want to express my gratitude without completely breaking down,” Grande said tearfully, as seen in a video shared by a fan on X.
“But really, thank you from the bottom of my heart. This has been so special, and I’ll treasure it forever,” she added. “I have the best fans in the entire world, and I always have.”
She took a moment to compliment her fans for their creative outfits and the heartfelt messages they brought along to the shows.
“I love your outfits, your faces, seeing you, and connecting with you like this,” she expressed.
“Thank you for all your efforts in making this so special. Your messages, costumes, and makeup are truly beautiful,” she continued. “I’ve cherished every moment of this time with you all, and I want to ensure you know how grateful I am,” she said before concluding with, “Thank you, and I love you so much.”
In August, Grande’s representative announced that she would be taking a break from the public eye following the tour.
“She looks forward to finishing the tour on a high note—both healthily and happily—and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which have drawn incessant scrutiny,” the rep stated.
This announcement came amid harsh criticism that Grande faced regarding her weight loss, particularly after the release of her music video for “Petal” on July 31.
Following the tour, Grande indicated that this decision wasn’t impulsive.
“The announcement made yesterday wasn’t a spontaneous reaction; it’s something I had decided to plan,” she explained at a concert in Chicago, mentioning that she had been planning this quietly for a long time.
She has also withdrawn from the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George,” which was set to premiere in London next summer.
On a personal note, Grande has recently attracted attention for rekindling her romance with Ricky Alvarez, 34, who was her boyfriend from 2015 to 2016.
Reports surfaced in July indicating that the couple had gotten back together following Grande’s breakup with Ethan Slater, 34, after three years together.
Grande appeared to confirm this relationship last month when she posted pictures from London, showcasing new tattoos on her clavicle that seemed to read “I do love you.”
Interestingly, Alvarez has the same phrase tattooed near his left collarbone, although in a different style.
