An Arizona inmate accused of having sex with a minor was pronounced dead after a fight with another inmate, authorities said.
Michael Dunbar, 43, died Monday after an altercation, according to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation and Reentry (ADCRR).
Dunbar was being held at the Arizona State Penitentiary's Eyman Correctional Facility. He had been in custody since 1998.

He was sentenced and jailed by Maricopa County for lewd sexual conduct with a minor.

“ADCRR does not condone violence and calls for prosecution pending the outcome of the investigation,” ADCRR said in a statement.

All inmate deaths are investigated in consultation with the county coroner's office, ADCRR said. ADCRR's Office of the Inspector General has launched an initial criminal investigation into Dunbar's death.
Dunbar has committed multiple disciplinary violations since 2010, including assaulting other inmates, according to prison records.
