Art teacher in Florida dismissed after video reveals her suspending black baby doll in her classroom

A middle school art teacher in Florida is facing serious backlash after a video surfaced showing her hanging a black baby doll from an electrical cord in her classroom. This shocking event reportedly caused trauma among students.

The video quickly gained traction online, leading to the teacher’s **immediate dismissal** from her position at Barrington Middle School in Lithia.

One parent, Nina Williams, expressed her concerns about the incident, emphasizing that children shouldn’t be subjected to distressing images. She stated, “I think it’s essential that her teaching license gets revoked. She shouldn’t have the chance to affect other students negatively.”

Williams was the one who posted the video on social media, raising awareness of the situation.

Another parent, Aracelis Perez, echoed these feelings, calling for not just the teacher’s termination but also criminal charges. “Her actions were unacceptable,” she said, noting that the teacher tossed the doll after hanging it.

Following an outpouring of outrage, the school district took swift action and announced the teacher’s termination.

The district assured the community that support would be available for students needing assistance following the incident.

The president of the Hillsborough NAACP, Yvette Lewis, also weighed in, arguing that incidents like this could be prevented if educational materials on African-American history were not removed from schools. She noted, “If you don’t understand your history, issues like this might keep happening,” emphasizing the gravity of such actions.

The teacher, identified as Karen Savage, has yet to respond to requests for comments from the media.

The Florida Department of Education is currently investigating whether Savage’s teaching license should be revoked.

Inquiries to the FBI regarding a potential investigation were met with no confirmation of an ongoing inquiry.
