As Deadline Approaches, Few Insurance Companies Obey CA Insurance Commissioner Lara on Paying out Personal Property to Fire Victims

Few insurers have complied with California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara's request to cover 100% of the personal property lost to policyholders in the Los Angeles fire by February 28th.

Of the many challenges faced by La Fire victims, one of the most difficult people who lost everything, was lost along with their homes to prove to the insurance company. All possessions are necessary to remember and record them worth the full amount of their personal possession.

New York Times reference The challenge was made with an article entitled “I'm trying to remember everything that was lost in the fire.” The subheadlines say, “After a wildfire, there comes the emotional sacrifice of listing all the objects in the destroyed home.”

A Palisade resident told Breitbart News: Even remembering everything you had. The total loss is the total loss. We give up and they don't have to pay because we feel like the insurance company is trying to break our collective will. ”

A small number of businesses are offering residents 100% compensation for personal property lost in the fire, without the horrifying task of itemization known as the “list.” Pacific Specialty reportedly offers 100% of the qualifying amount without requiring clients to make itemization. Similarly, there are Chubb, Shinkanitti and Lloyds of London.

Earlier this month, Lala issued an a Let me know Others provide coverage limits for up to 100% of content (personal property) without requiring policyholders to undertake the tedious task of completing detailed personal property inventory. “You will be asked to follow the lead of the insurance company.”

Under state law, policy holders must provide a minimum of 30% reward in advance before they need to create an itemized list to receive 100%.

Lara has been added:

Due to the massive scale of these wildfires, many policyholders are overwhelmed by the task of dealing with housing, family, construction issues and other major disadvantageous changes in daily life. These fires are all gathered together and are the largest and most destructive fires in California history. The fires destroyed the entire neighborhood and destroyed the community. My department has many complaints from policyholders about the monumental task of identifying all items of personal property that may have accumulated over many years or decades to collect replacement costs. I'm receiving it.

The division has gone beyond the law, with some insurers moving beyond the law and in some cases a significant amount of time to cater to policyholders by providing content restrictions without inventory. I know I'm trying hard. An additional benefit if the insured has since completed full inventory up to content coverage limits. I praise these insurers for putting their customers first, and that all other insurers, including California Fairplan, will follow suit by providing similar 100% accommodation. It requests, but limits policyholders to more than 75% of their content without requiring inventory.

Lara followed the insurance company until February 28th without identifying any specific outcomes. He also later supported the law by Senator Ben Allen (D. Santa Monica), and gave insurance companies 100% of personal property losses in wildfires without filling out an extensive list of their property. They requested that consumers be compensated.

However, few companies have researched by Breitbart News. Complies with 100% requirements. Some people only meet the 30% requirement under current state law. Others offer 50% or 80%, but not 100% in full.

For example, state farms offer 50% before itemization. USAA offers 75% before itemization.

It is unclear why Lala's recommendations haven't followed them all. Lara's office did not reply to requests for comment.

Lara said last week that she was tired of “white mansplanes” by fellow Democrats about how she did her job.
