As L.A. Victims Await Aid, Mayor Karen Bass Blames Fire Chief — Again

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has denounced LA Fire Station Chief Kirsten Crowley.

As reported by Breitbart News, Bass was abroad when the fire began. LAFD has failed to pre-deploy the engines and firefighters ahead of the expected extreme winds. Clearly, the decision was taken because buses and city council cut firefights and Crawley harassed firefighters' overtime payments before the deployment.

In her first formal interview since the fire, bass sat down with Elex Michelson of local Fox affiliate KTTV-11. They had the next exchange:

Bass: I felt absolutely awful not being here for my city.

Michelson: LA Mayor Karen Bass offers her first sit-in TV interview since the launch of the Pallisard fire, opening up about traveling on a diplomatic mission to Ghana with dangerous winds in LA forecasts Masu.

Bass: When I say it was a mistake – absolutely. The idea that I wasn't there was extremely painful.

Michelson: I know there was a warning about the weather before you went, but you were still there. What was the thought process behind going to Ghana?

Base: When the White House called and asked if he would represent the president, I said yes, and that would be a very short trip over the weekend and two business days.

Michelson: The mayor says La Fire Chief Kristen Crowley didn't call her to warn her before the trip, and didn't make the usual preparations for this kind of wind event. Masu.

Base: No preparation of that type occurred. If that were to happen, I'll tell you, Elex, I went to San Diego and of course I couldn't leave the country.

Michelson: But what does that mean? Have you heard that you didn't know? Because we know we were talking about it on the news. Many people were talking about the issue and warned that this would be huge.

Bass: To say that something scary can happen was not that level for me.

Bass and Crowley fought publicly in the aftermath of the fire before January I'm putting it aside Their feud – this has now rediscovered this.

Thousands of Palisade residents remain evacuated, with many still living in temporary housing, struggling with financial difficulties.

As Michaelson pointed out, the fire has two investigations. One is by the Los Angeles Fire Commission and the other is by the Fire Safety Institute.
