LATAM Airlines Flight LA800, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, landed as scheduled at Oakland Airport on Monday afternoon, according to FlightAware.
The flight typically stops in Auckland on its way to Santiago, Chile.
A South American Airlines spokesperson told the Herald that the flight had experienced a “technical issue” affecting some crew and passengers, without providing further details.
Hato Hone St John’s ambulance treated about 50 people at the airport, a spokesperson told Reuters.
One patient is in critical condition and the others have mild to moderate injuries.
The NZ Herald reported a passenger said he experienced a “sudden small fall” during the flight.
Boeing and Latin American Airlines did not immediately respond to Reuters’ questions about the cause or nature of the incident.
