Reason for the death of Tim Horton's customer Anita Grayson, who passed away after a dispute with the manager over a drive-thru problem, has been disclosed.

An Indiana woman, 75 years old, passed away following an argument concerning her coffee order at a Tim Hortons. The cause of her death, as stated by the Allen County Coroner’s Office, was an “acute exacerbation of congestive heart failure” triggered by a physical confrontation.

On May 13, Anita Grayson lost her life during a dispute at a Tim Hortons in Fort Wayne. Authorities are still uncertain whether her death stems from natural causes, an accident, or something more criminal.

Dr. E. John Brandenburger, the coroner, emphasized the significance of the term “acute exacerbation.” He explained that it suggests a sudden worsening of her heart failure, which can lead to serious symptoms or even death.

The incident escalated when Grayson, upset over her drive-thru order, got into a confrontation first with a 17-year-old employee and then with a 20-year-old shift manager. Reports indicate that during the disagreement, Grayson punched the manager and even removed some of her hair.

After the fight, Grayson was seen sitting down, making a phone call, and then lying on the floor. Employees attempted to assist her, offering water, but soon realized she had become unresponsive. Paramedics later declared her dead at the hospital.

Brandenburger suggested that the physical altercation likely strained Grayson’s heart further. He noted that such confrontations can surge adrenaline, thereby worsening the effects of congestive heart failure.

While the coroner initially considered her death to be from natural causes due to her existing heart condition, he noted that the altercation distanced it from that classification. Brandenburger pointed out that Grayson didn’t pass away quietly; there was something distinctly unnatural about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Authorities debated whether her death was accidental or a homicide but eventually ruled those options out. Brandenburger insisted that comprehensive investigations, including video reviews and 911 call transcriptions, confirmed the cause. Although Grayson passed away from heart failure, it was established that she had no significant injuries from the fight.

In the wake of her death, Grayson’s daughter, Taunda, has called for accountability among the Tim Hortons employees, stating they should be held responsible for her mother’s situation. She expressed her frustration, claiming that if law enforcement had done their job properly, her mother might still be alive.

The family has sought the services of civil rights attorney Ben Crump to contest the police account and potentially pursue further legal action. As of now, no charges have been filed against any Tim Hortons employees, and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office intends to review the coroner’s final autopsy report to decide if charges are necessary.
