Helen made landfall in Florida's Big Bend area late Thursday as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 140 mph. It quickly moved through the Southeast into Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said the eastern part of the state was particularly hard hit by the hurricane.

“From the air, it looks like a tornado, and it looks like a bomb went off,” Kemp told reporters in Valdosta. “And it's not just here, it looks like this all the way from here to Augusta.”

Officials said at least 51 people died in five states as a result of the hurricane. FOX Weather reported. At least 3 million people were without power in multiple states as of Saturday morning.
