Kid Rock Comments on Super Bowl Halftime Show

On Monday, Kid Rock appeared on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle” to discuss the Super Bowl halftime show from the previous night, which featured Bad Bunny.

During that Sunday event, Kid Rock was performing at a competing halftime show for TPUSA. He described Bad Bunny’s performance as a “middle finger” to conservatives and MAGA supporters.

He noted that many viewers were trying to figure out where he and other performers at the TPUSA event were, in light of the halftime show. Reflecting on his own Super Bowl experience, he remarked, “I performed with Justin Timberlake in 2004, and now look at how things have changed.”

Kid Rock lamented, “Honestly, no one remembers I played; it was overshadowed by Janet Jackson’s incident. A few might think back to that moment.” He recalled the 2016 Summit when certain players protested against racial injustice and police brutality. While he didn’t necessarily agree with their stance, he acknowledged their right to express it. He also expressed concern over how the NFL, particularly Roger Goodell, was grappling with maintaining revenue in what he termed a “predominantly male Negro league.”

He continued, “So, they brought in Jay-Z to help with the situation. I’m not against him; I respect his music, but it felt like a bit of DEI hiring. Sure, many fans enjoy Jay-Z, but the league isn’t going to let anyone diminish their power or profits.” He mentioned that Goodell had previously kept his salary under wraps until the league quietly dropped its tax-exempt status.

Kid Rock concluded, “Jay-Z’s involvement doesn’t solve the issues. It seemed like they were reinforcing their approach this year, which, to me, was a direct ‘thumbs up’ to conservatives and the MAGA crowd.”
