Barbara Bush Supports James Talarico in Senate Race

A daughter of former President George W. Bush seems to be supporting the progressive Democrat James Talarico in the Texas U.S. Senate race.

Barbara Bush has made a donation to a super PAC that backs Talarico, according to a report from the Austin American-Statesman, which cites details from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) website.

The FEC records indicate that Bush donated $2,500 to the Lone Star Rising PAC on September 23, 2026.

In light of this, political attorney and campaign finance expert Andrew Cates commented that given her prominent family background, Bush could have opted for anonymity if she desired. He pointed out that her choice of a PAC, which discloses its financial activities, instead of a 501(c)(4), which would have kept her contribution hidden, was curious.

This isn’t the first occasion on which the younger Bush has extended her support toward a left-leaning Democrat. In October 2024, she campaigned for former Vice President Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania, just before Harris lost to President Donald Trump.

Bush, an advocate for abortion rights, has stated that she does not align herself with either major political party.

As for the Lone Star Rising PAC, it’s noteworthy that notable Democrat donor Reid Hoffman contributed over $10 million to support Talarico, as recent federal filings revealed. The super PAC has been actively campaigning for Talarico and attacking his Republican rival, Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Polling data indicates that Paxton has a slight lead over Talarico as Texans gear up for the November midterm elections.

On Paxton’s campaign site, it is asserted that this election will be crucial in determining whether Texas continues as a conservative bastion or succumbs to the influence of the radical left.
