Baseball's pride enforcers take action against Christian players

June: A Month of LGBTQ Politics

For quite some time, June has felt like America’s version of Ramadan, a month wholly focused on LGBTQ politics that demands adherence from major institutions across the board.

At parades, there have been instances where gay men displayed themselves in front of children, with law enforcement looking on. In more striking displays, transgender activists have participated in topless demonstrations at the White House, while President Biden praised transgender youth for their role in “shaping the soul of America.” While this may seem extreme—and perhaps grotesque—the LGBTQ movement has advanced, with its more radical factions acting with impunity.

Conservatives have long pretended that a neutral stance could be maintained while the left dominated key institutions. That illusion is now shattered.

Donald Trump’s election in 2024 took many cultural radicals by surprise, as they had assumed the public would continue to embrace their agenda without question. While Trump didn’t fundamentally alter the prevailing attitudes, he indicated that there are limits to what society is willing to accept. Although movies and TV shows still promote woke themes, the excesses of Pride Month appear to be diminishing. This June, fewer organizations are openly affirming their allegiance to the Rainbow Regime.

Professional sports, however, remain an exception to this trend.

Baseball and hockey teams still adorn their social media platforms with rainbow colors and hold Pride Nights—actions that seem out of touch with their primarily male, more conservative fanbases who likely aren’t drawn to radical LGBTQ narratives. This branding is unlikely to win over those fans; rather, it risks alienating them.

So, what’s the motivation behind it?

The answer lies not in financial gain, but in exerting control.

Sports leagues continue to showcase LGBTQ themes as a way of provoking viewers in places like Central America. The entertainment industry does something similar. For instance, in movies like the “Joker,” the initial success seemed promising, but the sequel took a dark turn, undermining its own character as if the elites wanted to punish disenchanted youth rather than please them.

This attitude is reflected among sports owners too. Many appear to resent the very audiences that fill their coffers, opting to preach to them rather than serve their interests.

In traditionally liberal San Francisco, the Giants hosted a Pride Night, mandating that players wear LGBTQ-themed uniforms. As in years past, they changed the logo to rainbow colors for the players’ caps.

This year, however, a few players found a way to push back.

Pitchers Landen Loop, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker, while donning Pride caps, referenced Genesis 9:11-16, which talks about God giving the rainbow as a sign of His promise not to flood the world again.

It was a thought-out protest. They wore the symbols required by the league but reframed the rainbow’s significance, transforming a celebration of homosexuality into a message about God’s love. The subtle shift was significant enough to challenge the intended narrative.

Predictably, activists reacted with outrage. They couldn’t tolerate that faithful Christians found innovative ways to express dissent and demanded punishment for the players’ “politicizing” of the event.

This outcry might seem absurd, yet it sheds light on a deeper hierarchy at play.

Pride Night is, in itself, a political event. Athletes frequently wear political messages when they align with progressive causes like Black Lives Matter. The leagues have no qualms about turning games into ideological displays when it serves their agenda. The issue isn’t whether Major League Baseball should stay neutral; it’s that only one ideology is recognized as valid.

This warning to the Giants’ pitchers was a show of power, reinforcing that while players might be obliged to wear specific symbols, they cannot interpret them through their own beliefs. Participation in these rituals is mandatory, but acknowledging a higher authority isn’t allowed.

Major League Baseball is aware of the delicate situation. This form of protest is too sensitive to label as outright hatred. Since the players wore their regular uniforms, any harsh penalties would risk appearing vindictive. Yet, the league also had to appease activists who view any dissent from Christian beliefs as heresy.

Consequently, the league sent a vague warning to the three pitchers, stating they had violated rules and might face repercussions if it occurred again. This warning is likely to be seen as a discriminatory act by fans and Christians alike—because, well, that’s the reality. Those advocating for LGBTQ rights might find the response lacking in terms of punishment.

There could also be legal ramifications. Major League Baseball operates under Florida law, and the state’s Attorney General has indicated that the league’s policy may amount to religious discrimination. He has stated he will be looking into it further.

This serves as a reminder that conservativism must seize political power and wield it effectively. Progressives won’t cease their discrimination against Christians or allow their followers to feel unchallenged. They will enforce conformity, disguise it as inclusion, and impose penalties on those who remember that the rainbow symbol was originally a divine promise long before it became a corporate brand.

For too long, the assumption has existed that America could function neutrally while the left dominated societal structures. That misconception no longer holds. Culture will be shaped by someone—decisions will be made about which ideas are upheld, which are tolerated, and which are punished.

Christians shouldn’t view their suffering as a mark of righteousness. Instead, they should strive for victory in their political endeavors. If professional sports leagues want to compel players into participating in Pride events while punishing dissenters, they should face consequences like lawsuits and investigations.

The rainbow is not theirs to claim—never was. This should be clear by now: Neutrality doesn’t persist when faced with aggressive ideologies. If Christians remain silent about defending their symbols, the powers-that-be will seize them and demand gratitude for doing so by next June.
