Bay Area father Howard Wang faces allegations of cutting the throats of his wife, while her mother is implicated in a different murder in Southern California.

A husband from the Bay Area has been accused of murdering his wife and mother-in-law in a brutal incident at their home, while their young twin daughters were nearby. Howard Wang, 43, is now facing a charge of third-degree murder related to the incident, which also involves his mistress.

Wang allegedly killed his wife, Linling Guo, 37, and her mother, Beiming Chen, by slitting their throats inside their Walnut Creek residence in September 2025.

The alleged accomplice, Yang Wang, 45, who was involved with him, faces charges for destroying evidence and misleading the investigation after the murders.

Prosecutors have since implicated Wang in another murder case concerning his mistress’s boyfriend, which took place a year earlier in Southern California.

Authorities have stated that Wang and an accomplice planned this murder and traveled from the Bay Area to San Gabriel, where 41-year-old Chenli Li was shot outside her home in June 2024. Reports indicate that Wang orchestrated the killing and was present during the incident.

The suspected shooter, DeMarquez James Pearl, 33, has also been charged with murder.

Prosecutors suggest that these violent acts stemmed from Wang’s affair and were meant to resolve lingering issues surrounding it.

The tragic killings in Walnut Creek followed a tumultuous marriage filled with allegations of intimidation and control. Authorities claim that Wang issued threats to his wife in an effort to deter her from reporting the abusive behavior.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered Guo and her mother with severe stab wounds, indicating a targeted attack. Following the murders, Wang allegedly told authorities that an intruder had attacked them, which investigators suspect was an attempt to divert blame.

Wang was arrested shortly after and is currently in custody. Prosecutors plan to charge all three murders, which cross county lines, together. Pearl is slated for arraignment on April 1st, with Wang’s set for April 14th.

This case has also raised concerns for the couple’s twin daughters, aged 8, who survived the ordeal but lost their mother. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist them but was later suspended after gathering minimal support.
