Michelle Beadle’s Role Shift on SiriusXM
Michelle Beadle recently shared that Stephen A. Smith’s new show, which started in September, has taken her time slot on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio. She mentioned that her show, “Beadle and Decker,” co-hosted with Cody Decker, won’t be aired daily during the 12 to 3 PM window anymore due to Smith’s participation in the lineup.
“Yeah, the cat is out of the bag. I think we’re talking about it,” Beadle said during an episode on Wednesday.
She highlighted that they were only given a few hours’ notice about the changes, but details were sparse. It seems there was an expectation for discretion, but information leaked, prompting her to discover more about the situation through reports from the Hollywood Reporter regarding Smith’s new role at SiriusXM.
“Of course, Hollywood reporters had all the details,” she remarked. “So it was a bit embarrassing, I’m not going to lie. I’ve been in this business for over 20 years. I’ve not been treated poorly several times. This didn’t feel good, I’m not going to lie.”
Interestingly, during her discussion, Beadle chose not to mention Smith, who is associated with her former employer, ESPN. She had previously hosted the network’s “NBA Countdown” before parting ways in 2019.
Beadle is also known for her role on Fanduel TV’s show “Run It Back,” which focuses on the NBA. Meanwhile, Smith confirmed his contract with SiriusXM during an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” expressing excitement about tackling major sports topics with another show planned for pop culture discussions, though it doesn’t have a launch date yet.
Smith shared his enthusiasm for the deal: “To say I’m excited is an understatement,” he stated. “I used to take crazy dogs; it’s fun to see how all this turns out.”
