Bears defeat Bengals thanks to a strong finish by Caleb Williams

Bears Edge Bengals in High-Scoring Showdown

Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears clinched a thrilling victory over Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, winning 47-42 in a close contest.

Chicago had to hold off a resilient Bengals squad that pushed hard late in the game.

The Bears were up 41-27 when DJ Moore sprinted into the end zone on an end-around play with just under five minutes remaining. Chicago appeared to have sealed the deal after Terrell Edmunds intercepted Flacco, seemingly scoring a touchdown, but officials ruled that Edmunds was down due to contact, wiping out the impressive 96-yard return.

Unfortunately for Chicago, their next drive resulted in a three-and-out. Flacco then orchestrated a swift four-play, 55-yard drive that ended in a touchdown pass to Noah Fant, narrowing the gap. The Bengals needed a lucky bounce on their onside kick attempt—and they got it.

Flacco quickly connected with Andrei Iosivas within just six plays to take the lead, shifting the momentum firmly in Cincinnati’s favor.

After the exchange, Williams returned to the field under pressure. Initially, things didn’t look great; he threw two incomplete passes before scrambling for a crucial 14-yard gain to keep the drive alive.

Then, in a crucial moment, he threaded the needle to find rookie tight end Colston Loveland. Loveland broke free from two defenders, running for a 58-yard touchdown that ultimately secured the win for the Bears.

Throughout the game, both teams combined for a staggering 1,071 yards and 89 points over 141 plays.

Williams went 20-for-34 with 280 passing yards, tossing two touchdown passes and even catching one himself. He had two receptions during the game, which is quite unusual for a quarterback.

Meanwhile, Bears running back Kyle Monangai had an impressive 176 rushing yards on 26 carries. Loveland was standout as well, recording six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

Flacco, on the other hand, had a remarkable performance, completing 31 of 47 passes for 470 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions.

Tee Higgins was another key player for the Bengals, leading with seven catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while Jamar Chase added six catches for 111 yards.

With this win, the Bears improved their record to 5-3, while the Bengals slipped to 3-6.
