Bears interim head coach has lost over 20 pounds amid team’s coaching staff changes

For Thomas Brown, his new responsibilities have apparently been a success in his weight loss journey.

Brown is the Chicago Bears' interim head coach, replacing Matt Eberflus, who was fired last Friday. And apparently all it took to lose 20 pounds in less than a week was a promotion.

“I started my weight loss journey about 20 days ago and I haven't lost any weight,” Brown told reporters Wednesday.

But it got a lot easier once he moved from being the team's passing game coordinator to offensive coordinator.

“I was about 225 years old. [pounds] The morning of the appointment announcement [offensive coordinator]. I was 203 years old this morning,” Brown said.

Brown said her weight loss was not due to stress, but rather not having time to eat.

“What I realized is that when you add more tasks to your day, you forget about eating. So I went for a few days and I really didn't eat anything. I didn't even think about it. “I wasn't hungry,” he says. Said. “When I was game planning, I was thinking about what I was going to say to this guy in the next moment, and I looked up and I was almost 30 pounds lighter, so I'm going to keep going. We'll see how long it lasts. Let’s do it.”

And who knows how much of that 22 pounds he's gained in the last week, but with even more responsibility comes an even greater responsibility.

Brown became interim offensive coordinator when the team fired Shane Waldron on Nov. 12. Eberflus was then fired on Friday after completely mismanaging the clock at the end of the Bears-Detroit Lions game on Thanksgiving Day.

Eberflus expressed the next morning that he felt safe in his job, but he was fired the same day.

Chicago has lost six games in a row despite back-to-back comebacks against its division rivals.
