The two, both top-10 picks of the Chicago Bears in the 2024 NFL Draft, are already close friends.
Caleb Williams, the University of Southern California quarterback who was selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft, became the new face of the Bears franchise when Washington wide receiver Roma Odunze was selected No. 9 overall by Chicago. I was in the green room.

Thanks to the Bears’ social media team, fans witnessed Williams and Odunze join in a huge sibling hug as they celebrated becoming new teammates.
“Roma Odunze!” Williams was seen crashing a media session on Zoom in which Odunze was participating.
“Let’s do it!” Odunze says. “I’ll find a guy after all.”

Williams and Odunze are expected to continue building that chemistry Friday morning and head to the Bears’ facility to get acclimated to their new teams.
Williams was always expected to be a bear, as he had been the top quarterback option in the months leading up to Thursday night, but there was talk that Odunze could be taken with the No. 9 pick. But between those picks, there were a number of options that could have made Odunze unavailable.
But instead of a crazy trade from a team outside of the top 10 as expected, Odunze seized the opportunity. General manager Ryan Pauls and the rest of the Bears’ front office were all smiles after getting the two picks they wanted on day one.
