Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed admiration for Donald Trump following the release of the last living hostage by Hamas.
Netanyahu mentioned he has nominated Trump for the Israel Prize, marking him as the first non-Israeli to receive this accolade.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday described President Donald Trump as Israel’s “greatest friend” after Hamas freed the final 20 surviving hostages under a new peace agreement.
“No American president has ever done more for Israel,” Netanyahu asserted, noting that the comparative difference is significant.
He expressed gratitude to Trump for “standing up for Israel” at the United Nations, supporting Israel’s rights in the West Bank, and withdrawing from the “disastrous” Iran nuclear deal.
Netanyahu acknowledged Trump’s role in Operation Rising Lion and praised his “bold decision” to launch Operation Midnight Hammer, referring to an attack on Iran’s nuclear sites in June. He added a bit of levity, saying, “This is the most fitting name ever given to a military operation, because shortly after midnight, you really went for it.”
Additionally, Netanyahu announced that Trump has been awarded the Israel Prize, which he described as the country’s “highest award.”
Netanyahu also commended Trump’s Gaza peace proposal, labeling it as “a plan that could conclude the war by fulfilling all our objectives and pave the way for greater peace in the region and beyond.”
He thanked Trump for continuously urging global leaders to “remember October 7th,” recalling the horrific terrorist attacks by Hamas, including the brutal killings of civilians and abductions of infants in Gaza.
Netanyahu remarked, “Our heroic soldiers fought valiantly at the front lines between civilization and barbarism,” noting that they had successfully engaged Israel’s adversaries in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and elsewhere. However, he added, “The cost of these victories was steep. Nearly 2,000 of Israel’s elite were lost, with almost half perishing in battle. Their joy, dreams, and potential are gone forever,” he said somberly.
Donald Trump is characterized as a president of peace.
