Beverage Industry Leader Kevin Keane Discusses Its Role in Strengthening the US Economy at Daily Caller Live Event

American Beverage Association Highlights Job Creation and Economic Impact

During a Daily Caller Live event on Thursday, Kevin Keane, the CEO of the American Beverage Association (ABA), discussed the beverage industry’s significant role in supporting American jobs and bolstering the U.S. economy.

Elijah Moorman, CEO of Daily Caller, engaged Keane in a conversation about the organization’s contributions to the beverage sector. Moorman remarked on the industry’s longstanding presence in American culture, noting that one can easily spot a Coca-Cola in almost any store, even those that don’t specialize in beverages. He then inquired about the current economic impact of this industry in terms of jobs.

In response, Keane described the beverage industry as a quintessential American story, emphasizing that it’s not just a few large companies like Coke and Pepsi but rather a network of independent, family-owned bottlers across the nation. These smaller entities are pivotal in bottling and distributing products to various markets.

Keane mentioned that many of these bottlers have been family-owned for generations. “They are the backbone of our product distribution,” he elaborated, citing a Coca-Cola truck from a North Carolina company that services the Mid-Atlantic region as an example.

He also pointed out the ABA’s broad influence, highlighting its contribution to manufacturing and the creation of well-paying jobs nationwide. “We operate around 4,000 facilities with solid pay,” he stated, adding that many people might not recognize the industry’s role in strengthening the economy.

Moorman followed up by recognizing the extensive “network of bottlers” integral to the sector. Keane described the diverse roles that facilitate logistics and efficient product delivery, such as those working in warehouses on bottling lines, packaging, and loading trucks.

“It’s a varied workforce. From salespeople working closely with stores to merchandisers designing eye-catching displays in-store,” he explained, acknowledging the creativity involved in merchandising as a crucial aspect of the industry.

Keane remarked on the importance of these roles, noting they represent the kind of jobs that allow individuals to establish themselves in communities, emphasizing a growing focus on job stability over student debt associated with higher education.

The Daily Caller Live event was organized by the American Beverage Association in Washington, D.C.
