Biden and Trump in a near tie among Wisconsin voters ahead of debate

WATERTOWN, Wis. — In the first survey of the presidential election since Donald Trump was convicted on 34 charges, a Marquette Law School poll finds that the former president and President Biden are neck and neck among Wisconsin voters, but one has a slight lead among likely voters.

The poll, conducted June 12-20, found that the rival candidates have a 50-50 support rating among registered voters.

But among likely voters, Biden holds a two-point lead over Trump in battleground states, 51% to 49%, ahead of tonight’s debate.

The latest Marquette Law School poll of Badger State voters is Mid-AprilBefore Trump’s conviction, the former president was leading Biden by two points among both likely voters and likely voters.

If all six presidential candidates are included, Robert Kennedy Jr. has 8%, Trump has 43% and Biden has 40%.

Thirteen percent of registered Republican voters and 98% of registered Democrats believe Trump is guilty of the 34 charges for which he was convicted last month, while 54% of independents also believe he is guilty.

The poll found that none of Wisconsin’s registered Democratic voters believe Trump is innocent, compared with 72% of Republicans and 28% of independents.

In the Senate race, Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin, who is polling ahead of Biden in Wisconsin, is leading her Republican opponent Eric Hovde by five points (52% to 47%) among both registered and likely voters.
