President Joe Biden posted to X on Thursday bragging about how many times he has circumvented Congress by securing gun control through presidential action.
Biden posted:
My administration is tackling the gun violence crisis head-on.
I have signed more executive actions on gun violence than any previous president and the most significant legislation to address gun violence in nearly 30 years.

Biden began taking executive action to control guns just months after taking office.
On April 8, 2021, Breitbart News reported that Biden proposed gun control measures to his administration to combat what he called an “epidemic” of gun violence across the United States. Executive actions include regulating “ghost guns,” promoting red flag laws, reclassifying AR-15 pistols, and conducting a Justice Department-led gun trafficking investigation.
From that moment on, starting in April 2021, Biden continued to use executive action when Congress refused to pass new gun regulations, and he boasted about it.
For example, on August 18, 2023, Breitbart News reported that Biden was bragging about the number of times he used executive action to enact gun regulations that were not passed by Congress. Using X, Biden wrote: “Since I took office, I have signed more executive actions to reduce gun violence than any of my predecessors.Earlier this year, I committed to holding the firearms industry accountable and putting firearms in dangerous hands. signed an executive order to strengthen efforts to prevent the spread of the virus.
