Biden Says Average Voters Still Want Him

President Joe Biden said Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he’s not dropping out of the race because he believes the average voter still wants him to run.

Biden said, “All the data shows that the average Democrat voted, 14 million of them voted for me. They still want me to be the nominee. That’s number one. Number two, the idea that Donald Trump is any more persuasive in his arguments for why he should be president than he was two or three weeks ago is not substantially widespread. We’re not there yet. We’re just finally starting to pay attention to Trump.” I attended a service and spoke to more than 600 people at Mount Airy Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia. I stopped by the campaign field office with John Fetterman and Madeleine Lee. They both strongly supported me. I believe in the president and the first lady. We spoke at the campaign ice cream party in Harrisburg and stopped by Dunham Coffee 40 minutes after speaking with supporters. I was with the governor of Pennsylvania, and he still strongly supports me. That means this week I’m hosting the NATO summit in Washington and I’m going to hold press conferences on Thursday and Wednesday. I met with national labor leaders from the AFL CIO, and on Friday I headed to Detroit, Michigan to campaign.

He continued, “So, I don’t understand anything that was said. I just wanted to make sure I was right. The average voter out there still wants Joe Biden. And I’m confident that they do. And I’m confident, and like I said, impressed with me. I think I was pretty fair. They’re not reading it out in the press today. But the fact is, I think you have to acknowledge that there was a large, engaged crowd, and they’re talking about whether I used a teleprompter. Well, I improvised it all.”

Biden added, “You can’t actually get it on Teleprompter 2, but the bottom line is we’re not going anywhere. I’m not going anywhere. I wouldn’t be running if I didn’t absolutely believe I’m the best candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024. The voters spoke clearly throughout the Democratic nomination process, I said I won 40 million votes, etc. And so not only have I believed that all along, I want to reaffirm that and prove that it’s true. And I intend to do that all week and throughout the rest of the week.”
