Biden says Harris ‘not going to’ distance herself from his economic policies

President Biden has insisted that Vice President Kamala Harris will not distance herself from his economic policy agenda.

There have been reports circulating that Democratic presidential candidates are trying to distance themselves from the Biden administration’s policies, which officials say are so unpopular that it could backfire.

“How troubled are you that Vice President Harris may soon begin to distance herself from your economic plan for political reasons?” Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy asked Biden during a press conference on Thursday.

Biden told Doocy on Thursday that he “has no intention” of distancing himself from the Biden administration’s economic policy as Vice President Kamala Harris seeks to succeed Biden in the Oval Office. (Fox News)

“She won’t,” Biden replied, walking away from reporters.

The remarks show surprising confidence, despite recent reports that Harris is out of step with the administration.

According to a report by Axios, some of the key positions on which Harris is seeking to pivot from Biden include fracking, decriminalizing illegal immigration and health care.

The vice president is reportedly most interested in addressing inflation in a new, more direct way to relieve Democrats of the burden that more than three years of rapid inflation have placed on them.

Governor Harris announced her intentions on Thursday to ban “price gouging” on food items, which have increased by more than 20 percent over the past three years.

In contrast, the White House has insisted there is “no gap” between Biden and Harris’ individual policies and has been keen to highlight their unity.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a White House press briefing on Monday that Biden and Harris have “remained aligned” throughout the administration.

“[Harris is] “She’s going to present her vision, but again, they’ve been aligned for the last three and a half years. Nothing’s set in stone yet,” Jean-Pierre said.
