President Joe Biden took a trip down memory lane this week to find a group of people he prefers over House Republicans. He settled on being a racist.
Biden has long demonized Republicans who have sought to hold his administration accountable for border security failures and censorship of Americans.
During his infamous red light speech at Philadelphia’s Independence Historical Park in September 2022, Biden said:
claimed“MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.” Elderly Democrats have since said: expanded On this topic, he emphasized that the success of his biggest political opponent and his Republican supporters threatens “the very substance of our democratic institutions.”
The elderly Democratic congressman declared at a fundraiser in San Francisco Wednesday night that his political opponents are worse than “real racists.” His remarks are not included in the White House catalogue, but
archive The state of the speech is White House Press Corps Report.
“I’ve worked with real racists,” Biden said. “I served under Strom Thurmond.
terrible record About the race. But guess what? These guys are worse. ”
According to Biden, today’s House Republicans “don’t believe in the fundamental principles of democracy” and are clearly worse than the Democrats, who sought to tear communities apart based on race.
“By the time Mr. Strom left, he had done some terrible things,” Biden continued.
according to to the New York Times. “I’m not developing him any more than I used to, but what I’m saying is, at least I get to work with some of these guys.”
Strom Thurmond was a racist congressman and war hero who served as the Democratic governor of South Carolina from 1947 to 1951. He appeared to have softened his controversial positions, and after a brief flirtation with Republican politics, he ran unsuccessfully for president as a Dixiecrat candidate.
This isn’t the first time Mr. Biden has raised eyebrows by recalling past racists, nor is it the first time he’s made questionable points about Mr. Thurmond.
Blaze News previously reported that Biden last year told Thurmond, who opposed two major versions of the Civil Rights Act passed in 1957 and 1964, that he would vote for the Civil Rights Act “before I die.” He reportedly claimed that he had persuaded him to do so. This revisionist history has raised questions about both Biden’s cognitive decline and his grasp of reality. Not only did Thurmond vote against both versions of the bill, but Biden did not enter politics until 1971 and did not become a senator until 1973.
Biden and Thurmond
Apparently Not only are they close friends, but they also agreed on racism at least once.Just as Thurmond opposed busing mandates aimed at school desegregation, the Washington Examiner I got it. Biden similarly opposed the policy in 1975, citing “black pride.”
The paper also highlighted that Biden’s efforts to rehabilitate the reputation of the once racist Democrat also landed him in trouble ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
At a campaign fundraiser in New York City in June 2019, Mr. Biden, in his affected Southern accent, spoke with the late Democratic senators James Eastland (Mississippi) and Herman Talmadge (Georgia). I fondly remembered the “politeness” of the state.eastland Said Black Americans were an “inferior race.” Talmadge said it would be better for schools to close than to integrate.
