Biden says the Democratic Party is revitalized after election wins, claims Trump's actions are a source of national embarrassment.

Former President Biden Critiques Trump Amid Democratic Comeback

In recent remarks, former President Joe Biden criticized President Donald Trump, accusing him of wielding a “wrecking ball” against American democracy. He confidently declared that the Democratic Party is “back,” following a noteworthy set of elections.

“The Democratic Party is back. That’s not an exaggeration. Have you seen the election results?” Biden asserted during a speech at the Ben Nelson Gala in Omaha, Nebraska.

Biden highlighted the successes of Democrat candidates such as Rep. Mikie Sherrill and former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, alongside Zoran Mamdani, who is a Democratic socialist and won the mayoral race in New York City.

“The American people are sending a message to President Trump and his supporters,” Biden elaborated. “In fact, we had great nights in Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, New York City, Georgia, Mississippi, and yes, even Mississippi.”

“Mr. President, just so you know, you work for us. We don’t work for you,” he continued. “You’re not just serving billionaires, and this is a democracy. There’s no king here. However, you’re doing things that are embarrassing for the nation.”

Biden further accused Trump of undermining government funding for cancer research, referencing the loss of his son, Beau, to brain cancer.

“I really understand what cancer research means,” Biden expressed. “Cancer affects all families, and my family has felt that pain deeply.”

“My beloved son, who served as Delaware’s attorney general, should have been president, not me. He volunteered to go to Iraq, came back with stage 4 glioblastoma after being exposed to destruction, just like almost everyone else on 9/11, and he sadly passed away,” he added.

Biden also touched upon his personal diagnosis of prostate cancer and shared his treatment journey.

“Once the studies are completed and the diagnosis is confirmed, they really do make progress. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and at the end of each treatment cycle, I’ll ring a bell to mark that time,” he explained. “Thanks to dedicated doctors and nurses, and the advancements in research, we have hope.”

Shifting gears to healthcare, he criticized the Trump administration’s spending cuts, saying they only make healthcare more costly.

“Why on earth would they do this?” Biden questioned, claiming Trump’s policies favor “the wealthiest people in America.”

He also criticized the consequences of the government shutdown and the expiration of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds.

“We have a president who is purposefully making Americans hungrier,” Biden lamented, insisting that Trump “better keep the government open,” despite ongoing opposition from Democrats to funding bills.

“In the United States, one in five children goes to bed hungry every night.”

Biden, who is 83, is currently battling aggressive prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones and is undergoing radiation therapy.
