Biden seeks to squeeze Russia further and keeps pressing for more US aid to Ukraine

President Joe Biden is seeking to further squeeze Russia, continuing to press the United States for more aid to Ukraine.

“Today, I am announcing a 500-pound attack on Russia for its ongoing war of conquest of Ukraine and the death of Alexei Navalny, a courageous anti-corruption activist and leader of President Putin’s fiercest opposition,” Biden said. We are announcing the following new sanctions.” statement. “These sanctions target individuals connected to Mr. Navalny’s imprisonment, as well as Russia’s financial sector, defense industrial base, procurement networks, and sanctions evaders across multiple continents.”

“We are also imposing new export restrictions on about 100 companies that are providing backdoor support to Russia’s war machine. We are taking action to further reduce Russia’s energy revenues. ” he said.

The president is asking the House of Representatives to approve measures that include further aid to Ukraine, a country facing conflict.

“Two years after this war began, the Ukrainian people continue to fight with tremendous courage. But ammunition is running out. “We need more supplies from the United States to counter these attacks,” Biden said in a statement. We must pass a bipartisan national security supplement.” “This bill provides emergency funding to Ukraine. It also invests in America’s own defense industrial base. It passed overwhelmingly in the Senate and could quickly move to the House if the Speaker calls for a vote. There is no question that it will be passed.”

Earlier this week, Biden reportedly called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB.”
