Biden vows to ban assault weapons ‘come hell or high water’

In a speech Wednesday, President Biden said he would ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines “in hell or high tide.”

Biden made the comments Wednesday night at a House Democratic Caucus meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.

“I think there are people who feel uncomfortable, But Delaware, the little state above me, is one of them. It has the highest rate of gun ownership and one of the highest rates. But guess what? We’re going to ban assault weapons again, the last time we did it to reduce mass deaths,” Biden said.

Biden’s comments came after two students were killed and six others injured at Michigan State University on February 13. Suspect Anthony McRae committed suicide before police could arrest him.
