Biden’s team considered whether the president would require a wheelchair if he wins another term.

Concerns among President Joe Biden’s aides regarding his physical health were so significant that discussions reportedly took place about using a wheelchair if he was to run for reelection.

A recent book, co-authored by CNN’s Jake Tupper, sheds light on how long the Biden administration and its supporters worked to manage perceptions of his decline.

“Biden’s physical decline—most noticeable when he stopped walking—escalated to the point where there were internal discussions about having him use a wheelchair, but that could only happen after the election,” the book states.

An aide remarked that it would be politically unacceptable to have the 81-year-old president campaigning in a wheelchair, according to excerpts published by Axios.

“Given Biden’s age, his physician, Kevin O’Connor, mentioned that if he experienced another serious fall, recovery might require a wheelchair,” the aide added.
