Concerns Over Biden’s Cognitive Health and Foreign Policy
Senator John Kennedy has expressed serious concerns about former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline, suggesting it has risked U.S. foreign policy. During a discussion on “Pod Force One,” Kennedy pointed out how Biden’s remarks could be perceived as invitations to authoritarian leaders, such as Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
Reflecting on a moment from January 2022, Kennedy recalled watching Putin gather forces at the Ukrainian border while Biden held a press conference. At that event, Biden made the statement that a “small-scale invasion might be okay.” Kennedy found this particularly alarming, interpreting it as a signal rather than a deterrent.
“I remember thinking, Holy Moses, this could be taken as an invitation,” Kennedy said, recalling how Biden seemed to ramble when addressing critical questions from reporters.
During this press conference, Biden had remarked, “It depends on what [Russia] does. It’s one thing when it’s a small-scale invasion; it’s another when you end up having to fight over what to do.” Kennedy described these statements as “dangerous” and highlighted them alongside other foreign policy blunders, such as the withdrawal from Afghanistan and lifting sanctions on various nations, which he believes showcased Biden’s lack of clarity.
Kennedy suggested that international leaders noticed Biden’s perceived weaknesses, which may have emboldened their actions leading to the conflict in Ukraine. Kennedy stated, “They saw that the president didn’t have a clear grasp of the situation,” adding that it was a wake-up call for adversaries to take calculated risks.
He went further, asserting that the Democratic Party’s issues, which he called a “neurodegenerative disease,” appear to be worsening. Kennedy speculated about Biden’s daily work hours, implying that a lack of activity contributed to his diminishing capacity. “I think his staff was covering for him, but it became too much to hide,” he remarked.
Reflecting on his personal experiences, Kennedy shared a conversation he had with Biden at a bill-signing event, noting Biden’s thoughts seemed to gravitate toward reminiscing rather than engaging in current matters. “His interests were simpler,” he said, adding that Biden seemed eager for comfort and rest after their discussion.
Kennedy concluded that by the time Biden’s presidency rolls to a close, it wouldn’t be surprising if he was only active for a couple of hours a day. “You can’t effectively lead the country working just three hours,” he stated, encapsulating his concern about Biden’s ability to fulfill presidential duties.
Senator Kennedy’s new book, titled “How to Test Idiots Negative: And Why Washington Never Will,” was released on October 7.
