Former President Bill Clinton suggested in a recent interview that the loss of Vice President Kamala Harris to President-elect Donald Trump may make it easier for a Republican woman to be elected commander in chief.

In an interview aired on Sunday, journalist Tracy Smith asked about the possibility of the United States having a female president in the future, to which Clinton replied, “Maybe.”
“I think in some ways we moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil. And I think if Hillary had been nominated in 2008, she would have been nominated as well as Obama,” he added. Ta.
Clinton also spoke about her new book, “Citizen,'' and Smith again asked whether the country had changed politically in the wake of Harris' loss.
“Well, I think all these cultural battles that we're fighting are making it more difficult for women to run in some ways,” Clinton continued.
“So you think it has more to do with the party than the sex?” Smith replied.
Mr. Clinton answered, “No.” “Although I think it would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win.”
Clinton also said this was her opinion because “Margaret Thatcher” had done it in the past. Thatcher was a conservative and became Britain's first female prime minister. She served from 1979 to 1990.
“I still believe that we will soon have a female president,” Clinton continued.
Clinton's book reportedly details past complaints from when she was being questioned about her infamous affair with 22-year-old White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
Smith then asked the former Democratic president why his book included a section about the incident.
“I felt like I had to say something about it, and I wanted to do whatever I could to help her turn the page. I wanted her to think about herself and her future, instead of being flogged by old stories. “I think people should be given the opportunity to build the life they want,” Clinton said.
“I will always live with this issue,” Clinton wrote in Citizen about the Lewinsky scandal. “I wish her all the best.”
Clinton campaigned for Harris in the final stages of the 2024 presidential election, and appeared alongside President Joe Biden during her last re-election campaign.
