Microsoft CEO Bill Gates has warned that even if the world avoids war or a new global pandemic, there is a very real chance of the latter happening within the next 25 years.
He told CNBC's “Make It” that “a lot of anxiety” in today's world could lead to a major war.
“If we avoid a major war, then yes, we will probably see another pandemic within the next 25 years,” he continued.
Gates has joined the growing ranks of scientists who saw firsthand the lack of preparedness for the COVID-19 pandemic and are concerned about what the world might look like if a new global health emergency hits the nation.
According to the report, Gates is planning to write a book in 2022 on “How to Prevent the Next Pandemic,” in which he will discuss deficiencies in preparedness to deal with the impact of a widespread disease, including strengthening quarantine techniques and investing in vaccine research.
“The country the world looked to for leadership and example has failed to live up to those expectations,” he told media about the United States.
