Bill Maher Critiques Left’s Reaction to Charlie Kirk’s Assassination

Comedian Bill Maher expressed his disapproval of the political left’s response to the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, during a recent episode of “Club Random.” This episode was released on Monday.

Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old, was arrested on Friday and accused of murdering Kirk at an event that took place at Utah Valley University. Maher mentioned in the podcast that, while some people seem to be indifferent, this reflects a larger issue in the U.S.

“I might drink a little more than usual today, implying I have no idea when this airs. I can’t seem to shake this off,” he remarked, continuing with a pointed critique: “And if you’re on the other side politically and don’t care that someone from the ‘wrong team’ was shot—well, frankly, screw you! What’s happening to this country?”

Historian Heather Cox Richardson noted during a YouTube live stream that not everyone on the left was celebrating Kirk’s death, saying she hadn’t witnessed any widespread joy related to the assassination.

In response, Tom Elliott, the founder of Gravien News, shared a compilation video showing some individuals celebrating the incident.

Additionally, Stephen A. Smith from SiriusXM, on his show, condemned those who praised Kirk’s murder. “I don’t care what his political views were. A man was shot in front of young children! His wife is now a widow, and his kids have lost their father—all because of differing beliefs,” he stated. “And then you see people celebrating online? It’s shameful! I’m embarrassed!”

Since the incident, several individuals have lost their jobs due to comments celebrating Kirk’s assassination or attacking him afterward.
